ED 306 - Social Studies Methods

An inquiry approach is incorporated for developing concept knowledge and skills in social studies for students PK-8. Planning, instruction, and assessing learning is included across all of the social sciences. Instruction in history, geography, economics, civics, and other social sciences is considered in light of current recommendations based on new state and national standards. Candidates begin to develop a pedagogical vision grounded in social justice education that could be implemented in an elementary classroom.
