A microcredential is a 9-10 credit program in some professional or academic area. It is smaller than a minor, and focuses on the development of a particular professional or academic skill set. Micro-credential topics can be inside or outside of a student’s major and minor/concentration. A student’s General Education courses, General Education electives and free electives may be counted towards a microcredential, but courses satisfying major/minor requirements may not also satisfy a micro-credential requirement.
Matriculated students completing a microcredential will have the award designated on their transcript. Non-matriculated students will receive a certificate for the award, as well as a designation of their transcript.
