 |  ED 221 - Emergent Literacy Instruction
 SP Students will explore language and literacy development (speaking, listening, reading and writing) in young children. Characteristics of literacy rich environments will be discussed. Evidence-based, culturally responsive, and developmentally appropriate strategies and approaches for fostering early literacy learning will be emphasized. Additionally, students will become familiar with a variety of screeners and  assessments that can be used to guide educators in supporting young children’s literacy development. Satisfies the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion requirement. 
 Prerequisites & Notes
 ED 201 as a prerequisite of co-requisite or permission of instructor.
