HSC 301 - Drivers of Health and Health Outcomes

Within the US, an individual’s zip code is a significant predictor of overall health status and life expectancy with 30-year differences in life expectancy between neighborhoods. This course explores the drivers of the social determinants of health and how they intersect with structures of power and policy. The goal is to shed light on how structures of power can drive access and opportunity for some populations while oppressing others, resulting in significant health disparities, inequitable health policies, and environmental injustices. Satisfies the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Requirement.
