ENG 236 - Growing up LGBTQ+

In this course, students will examine how writers and filmmakers explore growing up LGBTQ+. With a focus on the “bildungsroman,” or the coming-of-age genre, this course examines the formation of LGBTQ+ identity in literature and film, as well as how texts reveal insights about historical, social, and cultural contexts. The intersection of LGBTQ+ identity with other identities, including gender, race, and class will also inform our understanding of growing up LGBTQ+. Satisfies the Literary Perspectives General Education and Writing Designated core requirements.
