ED 329/329L - Literacy Methods and Lab

Candidates investigate listening, speaking, writing, and reading as elements of a Structured Literacy program in Early Childhood and Elementary classrooms. Candidates explore various evidence-based, culturally responsive methods and teaching strategies to develop literacy skills. Candidates practice techniques for developing children’s knowledge and abilities in foundational skills, engaging complex texts, writing, and oral language using the Common Core Standards, lesson planning, and diverse fiction and nonfiction literature. A 30-hour classroom field experience is part of this course, and students must register for the lab section.
