This is the first in a series of two doctoral dissertation courses. A doctoral dissertation is the culminating scholarly work for candidates in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Students will conduct original research that advances the field of ABA by addressing critical issues in behavioral science, intervention strategies, or theoretical applications. The dissertation process includes formulating research questions, conducting a comprehensive literature review, designing and implementing an empirical behavior analytic study, analyzing data using appropriate behavioral research methods, and discussing findings in relation to the broader field. The focus in Dissertation 1 course is for students to formulate their research question, design the study, propose the study to their dissertation committee, obtain IRB approval, and implement the study.
