ED 125 - Approaches to Middle and Secondary Education

This course provides students with an overview of middle and secondary school education including the social and government forces that influence today’s schools, issues of teacher identity and philosophy, current and historical impacts of injustice and oppression on students and schools, and curriculum creation and concerns. The course will also introduce students to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s Common Core State Standards, as well as prepare students to develop methods to make learning meaningful, engaging, and rigorous for their future students.   Satisfies the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion requirement.
