ED 102 - Curriculum Theory and Instruction

This course will be a study of curriculum dimensions, concepts, and designs for varied student populations and school settings. Candidates will examine multiple theories of learning and development and review neuroscience research about how the human brain learns. Candidates will explore connections between learning theory and curriculum development, instruction, and assessment, identifying key components of Understanding by Design. An examination of the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks reveals how the state standards can be used as guidelines in structuring curriculum.
