Communication

The general communication major gives students the opportunity to explore the field and sample classes in the other communication programs offered at Endicott. Students may begin their studies in the general major and then move into digital media or marketing communication/ advertising, or add a minor, as their interests develop.

The digital media major provides a blend of visual, oral, and written communication. It is offered in two concentrations, digital filmmaking and digital journalism, which share a common core of courses that explore the synergy between the functional methods of journalism (writing and interviewing) and the applied production skills of the filmmaking. Both concentrations emphasize skill development throughout the storytelling process, from understanding the methods needed to develop a story to actively utilizing the tools to successfully create the narrative.

In the marketing communications/advertising major, students develop the critical thinking and writing skills necessary to function in this demanding field. Coursework gives students a basic understanding of the industry and prepares them to succeed as they move into their three-week and semester-long internships.
