Admission at Endicott

^ TOP

Endicott demonstrates a commitment to enrolling students from a wide geographic range as well as from all ethnic and racialheritages. When considering candidates for admission, the Admission Review Committee looks at the entire individual. In addition to reviewing the application and the student essay, the committee concentrates on a student’s academic record, recommendations, and extra-curricular activities. Test scores are optional with the exception of applicants with majors in athletic training, early childhood education, elementary education, physical education teacher licensure, all secondary education teacher licensure programs, and nursing. We give additional consideration for admission to applicants who possess unusual strengths or accomplishments.

We welcome applications without regard to race, religion, color, disability, national or ethnic origin, age, sex, marital status,
pregnancy, sexual orientation, political belief, or prior military status.

Our Admission staff is eager to introduce prospective students to the Endicott experience and looks forward to assisting
them in every aspect of their college search.

International Students

^ TOP

Endicott welcomes and encourages applications from international students as well as United States citizens who have lived and studied abroad. The College recognizes that such students enrich the entire campus community with their diverse cultural backgrounds. Internationally educated applicants whose educational documents are in a foreign language are required to have their credentials translated into English by an official from the secondary school. Endicott reserves the right to require that internationally educated applicants have their credentials evaluated by an approved external agency. This agency will certify the validity of the documents and determine if and how the potential transfer credits apply within the United States educational system.

International students should submit all application materials by March 15 for fall admission and December 15 for spring admission.

Transfer Credit for International Students

The College recognizes college credit transferred as:

International Baccalaureate: Credit will be granted on a per-course basis for final grades obtained at the Higher Level. Grades 4 to 7 will be considered for equivalent college course credit. Six credits may be granted per each completed course accepted by the College. Eight credits may be granted for courses including laboratory sections. A maximum of 32 credits may be awarded to students who have earned the IB diploma.

British “A” Levels: Credit will be granted (6) for each “A” Level course completed with a passing grade.

Other Baccalaureate: French Baccalaureate course work may be submitted for college credit evaluation. This also applies to German Abitur, Swiss Maturita, and Italian Maturita.

Other Transfer Credit: Credit will be granted from international institutions of higher education recognized by the government of the country that sponsors the institution. As indicated above, educational documents in a foreign language are required to be translated into English. Endicott reserves the right to require that students have their credentials evaluated by an approved external agency.

All transfer applicants will be notified of the number of credit hours accepted.

Housing for International Students

All new students will receive information regarding Housing Preference Forms in May for students entering in the Fall and in December for students entering in the spring.  Students should complete the form online and return it to the Office of Residence Life with their desired housing choices.  Students will then be notified of their housing assignment prior to their arrival on campus.

Orientation for International Students

Each semester prior to the start of classes, Endicott conducts a comprehensive orientation for all new students. Orientation includes an information session designed to prepare students for academic and social life at the College, and to help them understand the cultural adjustment process and their immigration responsibilities. All incoming international students are expected to participate in New Student Orientation.

The international student advisor is available on an ongoing basis to assist international students after New Student Orientation and throughout their enrollment at the College.

Scholarships for International Students

International students may be considered for a number of institutional scholarships. The Financial Aid Committee makes selection for these awards. Students may also be considered for Endicott Presidential Academic, Presidential Art, and Endicott Health Sciences Scholarships. The Admission Office notifies eligible recipients of these awards with the offer of acceptance to the College. International students however, are not eligible for any federal, state, or need-based Endicott grants.

Legal Obligations of International Students

After we offer admission to an international student, the student must obtain a visa from the United States consular office and must be admitted to the United States by the United States Department of Homeland Security (USDHS). For the duration of your study in the United States, you are expected to meet certain legal obligations of USDHS as discussed in the International Student Handbook, which you will receive upon your arrival on campus and which will be discussed during orientation. Maintenance of legal “student status” is the obligation of the international student. An Endicott international student who has failed to meet statutory obligations as an F-1 or J-1 student will be required to apply for reinstatement by the U.S. government. If the student’s failure to maintain status is willful, avoidable, or part of a pattern of deception, the student is subject to immediate dismissal, in accordance with College policy.

Admission Time Line

^ TOP

We advise students who are applying as freshmen to submit all application materials by the deadline of February 15 for fall admission. We may continue to accept applications thereafter on a space-available basis; however, some programs reach capacity early in the application cycle. The Admission Review Committee will not consider applications until ALL of the materials listed above have been received in the Office of Admission. Once the application is complete, we typically notify candidates by mail of an admission decision within seven to ten weeks. The application deadline for spring semester admission is December 15.

If you decide to change your program of study after admission is offered, you must request a change in writing to the Office of Admission. This is necessary due to the number of positions available within each school of the College.

Prior to your enrollment at Endicott, your official FINAL high school transcript is required.

Interviews and Campus Visits

^ TOP

At Endicott, we strive to know each of our students personally. Although a tour of our campus is not required, we  encourage you to phone the Office of Admission to schedule a tour and personally meet with a member of our admission staff. Your visit allows us to become more acquainted with you and your family while you obtain a closer look at Endicott.

We are open weekdays  from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and select Saturdays during the academic year.  Please call the Office of Admission to schedule a visit at (978) 921-1000.

Spring Semester Admission

^ TOP

Students may apply for the spring semester at Endicott following the same application procedures as required for the fall semester. The application deadline for spring is December 15. Because of the sequential nature of some programs, however, those students entering Endicott in the spring may have to delay taking certain required courses in their major until the Fall. Due to the sequential nature of the curriculum in the School of Nursing, we are unable to consider applications for spring semester admission.

Advanced Placement

^ TOP

The College participates in the Advanced Placement Program of the College Board. Course exemption and/or credit will be awarded to students presenting scores of 3 or higher on AP examinations except for math and science exams, which require a minimum score of 4. Detailed information is available on our website at  www.endicott.edu/registrar.  Students should request that their scores be sent to the Office of Admission directly from the College Board (Code 3369). Once the scores have been evaluated, students will be notified of any advanced standing awarded.

College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

^ TOP

Students may take advantage of the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) and receive credit for certain courses. CLEP examinations cover material taught in courses that most students take as requirements in the first two years of college. Endicott will award the same amount of credit to students earning satisfactory scores on the CLEP examination as it awards to students successfully completing that course.

Social Networking Statement

^ TOP

As a practice, the College in general and in particular the Office of Admission does not monitor Facebook or equivalent social networking sites for content regarding prospective students.  However, when posting information on the internet, please keep in mind that you are responsible for your statements and any consequences that may arise.  If subjects of inappropriate nature are brought to our attention, it may lead up to and include rescinding an offer of admission to the College.  Please think about how you represent yourself, not only to the higher education community, but to your friends, family, future employers, and the community at large.

Adult Students

^ TOP

Endicott College is dedicated to the principle of lifelong learning. It is never too late to learn, whether a student chooses to enter a profession, advance in a career, or enrich personal life. Adult students are welcome in both the day and evening divisions of Endicott as full-time or part-time students in all programs. An adult student is defined as a student age 23 or older. Students attending on a part-time basis are charged per credit hour.
