ENG 223 - The Bible as Literature Introduces students to the Bible as a literary and historically grounded text. Emphasis is on the literary, ethical, political, philosophical, and theological uses of scripture by Jews and Christians. Topics include God and the problem of evil, slavery and freedom, prophecy and justice, history and historical context, gender and race, and law and ethics. Satisfies Values and Ethical Reasoning General Education requirement.
