BIO 292/292L - Microbiology and Lab An introduction to microorganisms, including bacteria, single-celled eukaryotes, and viruses. Specific areas covered include cultivation, detection using conventional and molecular approaches, cell biology and metabolism, genetics, virulence and infectious disease, microbial ecology, genetic engineering, and industrial applications. Laboratory work (separate syllabus and component) involves cultivation and analysis of microorganisms. (Lecture: 3 cr.; Lab: 1 cr.)
