ABA 835 - ABA and PBS: Derived, Related, or Independent Approaches PBS has been touted as both an extension of ABA and as independent of ABA. In the first course in this sequence, students became very familiar with the philosophy and application of PBS. In this course, we will examine the relationship between PBS and ABA. Students will explore the shared and discrepant characteristics of PBS and ABA, and will address how each approach handles some centrally important is¬sues such as outcome and quality of life. Students will be required to critically evaluate the approaches and argue for their independence and their connection. An ABA formulation of the philosophy and goals of PBS will be developed.
