IST 230 - Political and Social Change in Developing Countries We live in an increasingly interdependent world, where events in one part of the globe have implications for other regions of the world. The course explores the economic, political and social challenges facing countries of the developing world in sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Latin America. The course introduces students to issues distinctive to developing countries such economic underdevelopment, cultural pluralism, conflicts, challenges of democratic transformation, investment, globalization and the shifting of global power. Satisfies the Global Issues General Education requirement.
