ENV 212 - Introduction to Geographic Information Systems The role that Geographic Information Systems (GIS) plays in environmental science has grown dramatically in recent years. This course introduces students to this subject and provides them the skills needed to appropriately analyze spatial data using the GIS software. The class covers basic map concepts, data mining and downloading, field recording and downloading of GPS data, working in the ArcMap10 and the ArcCatalog environment and map creation. Students spend time analyzing data, creating layers, and designing maps.
