HST 340 - Women in American History and Culture Surveys the history of American women from the Colonial era to the present, analyzing their struggles for gender equity and gains in business, education, politics, athletics, and other realms. The course examines women’s movements in the 19th and 20th centuries, and the portrayal of women in the media. Adopting a multicultural and multiracial perspective, the course compares and contrasts the experiences of women differentiated by race, ethnicity, class, and geographic region. Satisfies the Individual and Society General Education requirement.
