MUS 114 - Chamber Ensemble

The course work will include maturity of classical styles and repertoire in the structure of a chamber ensemble. Duos, trios, quartets and quintets are formed depending on available players. Students will develop musicianship skills, including instrumental methods and small group recital expertise. Participants will perform arrangements in a variety of classical styles, by historical and contemporary composers. Biweekly rehearsals will culminate in performances. Ensembles rehearse a minimum of two times per week in addition to scheduled class times, and are coached by a faculty member. The faculty member establishes the number of performances when the group is formed. May be repeated up to eight semesters for credit. Three credits of this course will fulfill one Arts and Humanities core requirement.
