Overview
This accelerated, post-baccalaureate licensure program is
designed to deliver practical training for prospective
teachers in many grade content areas: middle (5–8) and
secondary (8–12). The program consists of six courses,
including a practicum. Graduates of this program will be
eligible for an Initial License in one of the following content
areas:
• biology
• chemistry
• earth science
• English
• general science
• humanities
• history
• mathematics
• mathematics/science
• physics
• political science/philosophy
Admission Criteria for the Accelerated
Secondary Teacher Preparation Program
Admission to the post-baccalaureate program requires a
Bachelor degree from an accredited college. To be considered
for admission, a candidate must submit the following
credentials:
• Application form and a $50 application fee
• Official transcripts of all academic work
• A passing score on the Communication and Literacy Test
(MTEL) and Subject Matter Tests (MTEL) to one of the
listed fields
• Evidence of prior coursework in the chosen subject
matter field through transcript review.
