MUS 113 - Jazz Band The course work will include mastery of jazz styles and repertoire in a jazz band ensemble. Students will develop musicianship skills, including instrumental methods, jazz and improvisation. Participants will perform arrangements in a variety of jazz styles, with arrangements by historical and contemporary jazz composers. Biweekly rehearsals will culminate in performances. Ensemble rehearses a minimum of two times per week in addition to scheduled class time, and is coached by a faculty member. The faculty member establishes the number of performances when the group is formed. Three credits meets Arts and Humanities core requirement.
