BIN 510 - Probability and Statistics with Programming^ This course is an introduction to probability and statistics for bioinformaticians in an R environment. An overview of statistics is provided including data types, the role of assumptions in data analysis, the use of models, and common statistical analyses. Next, statistical methods and models specifically useful to the biological sciences are covered including (but not limited to) principle component analysis, Bayesian networks, and Markov models. This course provides the framework for bioinformatic-specific statistical applications in BIN 620 and BIN 621. Assignments and the final project will be in R.
