ACCT 560 - Managerial Cost Accounting This course studies the fundamentals of cost accounting within an industrial organization. The accounting functions relative to materials, labor, and factory overhead are treated in detail. Job order and process cost systems are fully explored. Topics include budgeting, product costing, activity-based costing, activity-based management, standard costs, cost variance analysis, cost estimation and prediction, cost-volume-profit analysis, performance measurement, non-manufacturing cost analysis, cost allocation, and transfer pricing. The material is examined from the perspective of students preparing to use management accounting information as managers, to support decision making (such as pricing, product mix, sourcing, and technology decisions) and short- and long-term planning, and to measure, evaluate, and reward performance.
