ITP 560 - Legal, Ethical, and Social Issues of Instructional Technology


This course is designed to examine the legal, ethical, and social context of instructional technology in the educational setting. This course focuses on the importance of awareness and insight into the larger environment in which educational technology exists. Students will examine the areas of intellectual property and free speech in cyberspace, as well as privacy issues in the electronic age. The course will deal with ethical considerations associated with the usage and content of technology in education related to responsibility, confidentiality, and privacy. Throughout, the course will link the conceptual framework to actual case studies and examples. The activities, materials and content of this course are related to the Massachusetts Curriculum Framework for PreK-12 Instructional Technology Standards.
