The program is founded on the belief that learning leads to change, and individuals with the ability to learn and evolve continuously will be successful as leaders or managers in the dynamic environment of the sport industry. The application of the course content may be tailored to the specific sport industry segment that each participant is interested in. The program will be beneficial to professionals who wish to pursue career paths as directors of athletics/senior women’s athletic administrators, managers of resorts or sports clubs, sport merchandising/ entrepreneurs, general managers or department managers of professional sport franchises, or directors of parks and recreation. The program will also benefit others who are seeking to be in leadership positions in the sport industry.
A Master’s Thesis and a practicum experience are included, which provide an opportunity to candidates to apply theory to practice in the desired specific segment of the sport industry.
Program Outcomes
- To develop the ability to learn and evolve continuously to succeed as future leaders or managers in the dynamic environment of the sport industry.
- To gain managerial expertise through coursework in the fields of marketing, legal, and financial aspects of the sport industry.
- To understand the intricacies involved in the physical design and construction of a sport facility.
- To gain proficiency and knowledge in the specific sport industry segment that each participant is interested in through thesis work and practicum experience.
