HMS 427 - The Victimization of Children This course will cover the history of child victimization as a social problem, its dynamics, prevalence, outcomes, research issues, how the media treats child victimizations, and contemporary policies. The course will focus on child victimization in the United States, but will also examine international victimization of children. The goal of this course is to provide students with a broad understanding of childhood victimization and the resources available to address it. The course is also intended to cultivate the knowledge and skills that will allow students to critically evaluate representations of childhood victimization in a variety of contexts.
Prerequisites & Notes CJ 100, HMS 100, or CJ 241, or permission of instructor.
