ED 525 - Introduction to Applied Behavior Analysis in Special Education(Cr: 3) Within this course the definition and characteristics of applied behavior analysis will be reviewed. Students will learn the distinction between behaviorism, the experimental analysis of behavior and applied behavior analysis. Additionally, critical terms, definitions and concepts in applied behavior analysis will be reviewed. Journal articles from the behavior analytic literature will be used to emphasize the interrelationship between behavior analytic principles and effective education and clinical treatment. General principles will be reviewed in class. Students will be required to identify their own area of concentration and (e.g., curricular-based interventions for the treatment of children with developmental disabilities) with the support of the instructor, refine their skills in area of primary interest.
