The Certificate Program in Applied Behavior Analysis at the Van Loan School is a unique, advanced-level teacher preparation program focused on the application of behavioral principles in addressing the needs of exceptional learners. The program fulfills the educational requirements to sit for the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) examination.
Individuals who hold a graduate degree in special education, psychology, or a related field and who are seeking certification the BACB as a Board Cer- tified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), may enroll in Endicott’s BACB-approved, six-course sequence in preparation for the certification examination.
Behavior Analyst Certificate courses are three-credit-hour courses and are scheduled for 45 contact hours each, in order to meet the BACB requirement for a total of 270 classroom contact hours. In addition to coursework, there is a 1,500-hour BACB required fieldwork experience, 75 hours of which must be supervised. Students are responsible for independently securing the supervision required by the BACB to sit for their certification examination. Support in securing such supervision is available through the Endicott College Office of Graduate Studies in Special Education.
*If you are a resident of, or plan to practice Applied Behavior Analysis in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, please understand that as if June 5,2015, regulations governing licensure eligibility, the application process, and standards of practice for Licensed Applied Behavior Analysts (LABs) went into effect. These standards establish both “Practice” as well as “Title” standards, requiring that you must be licensed in Massachusetts to identify yourself as, or practice Applied Behavior Analysis. Current students in, applicants to our BCBA Certificate course of study should be aware that the current grandfathering period expires on June 5, 2017. Please consult a member of the Institute for Behavioral Studies to discuss your options.

• Have a good grasp of the theoretical perspective of behaviorism and natural science
• Understand the components of valid research
• Be able to observe human behavior and explain it causes based upon the world view of behaviorism and natural science
• Explain how behavioral principles apply to all areas of human endeavor
