Demand for qualified hospitality professionals will continue to increase over the next decade, providing a wide range of career opportunities for graduates of Endicott’s School of Hospitality Management. The School of Hospitality Management prepares students for management and leadership roles in the vast hospitality sector which includes hotels and resorts, restaurants and food service enterprises, private clubs, cruise lines, casinos, senior living communities, real estate property management companies, nonprofit food and housing organizations, and corporate and special events organizations to name a few of the opportunities awaiting our graduates.
The school offers a broad degree in Hospitality Management. Within the overarching Hospitality Management degree, students may select to concentrate in one of three distinct areas; Event Management, Hotel and Resort Management, or International Hospitality Management. In addition to core hospitality management courses, students gain a depth and breadth of knowledge that comes from academic inquiry in a comprehensive liberal arts environment. All faculty members teaching in the School of Hospitality Management have industry experience which enriches the student learning experience. The full-time faculty serve as advisors to guide, mentor and support each student. La Chanterelle, the non-traditional classroom, provides a hands-on learning experience in both the culinary and service aspects of operating a fine dining restaurant. The school’s collaboration with the Wylie Inn and Conference Center provides field study opportunities to develop operational expertise in a hospitality workplace.
The School of Hospitality Management recognizes the global nature of hospitality and encourages students to study or intern abroad. Studying abroad provides life-shaping experiences for students studying hospitality management. Partner schools offering hospitality specific programming are located across the globe, providing critically acclaimed programming to Endicott students studying abroad.
Student-led clubs offer great opportunities for students to be involved in meaningful co-curricular activities. Two student organizations unique to the School of Hospitality Management are the Events Management Organization (EMO) and the AH&LA club representing the American Hotel and Lodging Association. In addition, students who qualify may be inducted into Eta Sigma Delta (ESD), an international hospitality honor society governed by the International Council of Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Educators (ICHRIE). The society recognizes junior and senior hospitality students for outstanding academic achievement, service, and professionalism.
The School of Hospitality Management is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration (ACPHA), which ensures that the school meets or exceeds standards of educational excellence. This accreditation is renewed every seven years, requiring the School to remain current as well as forward thinking. Best practices in hospitality education ensure that students studying hospitality management at Endicott College have the skills, knowledge, and abilities to succeed in the 21st century hospitality industry.
The hospitality industry is broad and deep, with many career paths for students eager to learn how to imagine, shape, and manage memorable experiences. A degree in hospitality management from Endicott College is the catapult from which to rise quickly up the management ladder across the hospitality business spectrum.
