The mission of the Endicott College School of Nursing is to prepare graduates to practice in a complex and ever-changing health care environment while providing a solid base in liberal education.  Curriculum integration of global healthcare issues and cultural concepts will ensure that students can participate in society as educated, culturally competent, and socially responsible individuals who respect others and the environment and who are accountable to protect and promote the well-being of those assigned to their care.  Inherent in this mission is the goal that students will remain self-learners throughout their lifespan, committed to both personal and professional development.

Preparation for practice is based on evidence-based theoretical knowledge and structured, supervised clinical instruction.  The educational process incorporates the student as an active participant in the care of the patient with an emphasis on patient centeredness, quality, and safety.  Through the use of innovative teaching approaches and technology, a collaborative and interactive classroom environment is created in which students are encouraged to become self-learners, responsible for the depth and breadth of their acquired knowledge. The professional standards of nursing will provide the foundation for the development of critical thinking skills, leadership skills, ethical reasoning, and therapeutic communication skills.  Endicott College School of Nursing is dedicated to educating the nurse of the future with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to provide patient-centered, quality and safe care in a diverse healthcare environment.

In the School of Nursing, clinical education experiences in a variety of settings provide students with the work experience other students might gain through internships. Clinical education experiences provide students with an opportunity to apply what they are learning in the classroom. Nursing students in the Bachelor program take a nursing course that includes a laboratory and/or clinical experience every semester from their sophomore year through their senior year, and a full-semester internship experience in the senior year.

Accreditation

The Nursing Program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc. (ACEN), 3343 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 850, Atlanta, Georgia 30326. 404-975-5000

National Student Nursing Association

Nursing students have an opportunity to be a member of the National Student Nurses Association at Endicott College and the Endicott College Honor Society of Nursing.  Membership in the professional organization exposes the student to the nursing profession through conferences, journals and service activities.

Clinical Education Experiences

Clinical nursing courses allow students to apply what they are learning in class in a clinical/lab setting on a weekly basis throughout the semester. In addition, students have opportunities to work independently with a nurse preceptor during their senior internship experience. Clinical settings vary widely depending on the course objectives. Clinical sites might include schools, home care agencies, clinics, public health departments, adult day care programs, and wellness centers as well as hospitals, rehabilitation centers and long term care facilities. Our nursing laboratories are equipped with high-fidelity simulation mannequins to enhance students’ learning associated with clinical education.
