Non-Licensure Concentrations in Early Childhood and Elementary Education
The non-licensure concentration prepares students for a variety of jobs, including work in day care centers, private schools, and other positions that do not require state licensure. Through required liberal arts courses students gain content knowledge in math, science, children’s literature and history.  Education courses focus on curriculum theory and design, special needs, instructional technology, and key concepts and thinkers in the field.  Non-licensure students complete a semester-long internship instead of student teaching.  These concentrations do not require the MTEL and the curriculum is more flexible then the licensure programs.  Note:  The non-licensure concentrations do not lead to public school licensure or certification.
