HTM 220 - Japan: An Introduction to its Culture, Society, and Tourism Economy

This course emphasizes Japanese culture and the travel and tourism sectors. Students gain an understanding of workplace culture and etiquette, as well as learn about tourism marketing and communication targeted to the foreign traveler. The class culminates in a three to four week immersion program in Japan where students experience a variety of workplaces, including a tourism marketing and communications firm, attractions, hotels and restaurants. Students must register for the accompanying trip.
