ED 302 - Science Methods This course supports the pre-service teacher in planning for the teaching of science in the K-6 classroom. Major concepts, curriculum theory, and instructional strategies appropriate to science education are explored. Major principles of science, development of science lesson plans, experiments, demonstrations, enrichment activities, and science projects using a hands-on approach are included. Current research, issues, and frameworks in science are examined. Focus is on assessment, cooperative learning, and hands-on science. A semester-long field component is included in this course. (3 cr. Lecture, 1 cr. Field experience). Must be registered for methods course and ED303.
Prerequisites & Notes Junior class status and a passing score on at least two MTEL exams. Open to liberal studies/education teacher licensure majors only.
