EDS 502 - Effective Classroom Strategies in Secondary Education

This course will examine the role of the effective secondary education teacher. Topics covered will include study in developing effective learning and instruction critical to the child’s developmental level using active modes of learning. Students will develop skills in selecting subject material from relevant Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, learning how to adapt instruction for diverse learners. The course looks at characteristics of curriculum content, planning and management, pedagogy, and assessment in middle and high school settings.
