IDI 501 - Foundation of Design

The main focus of the course is the development of fundamental proficiencies in design theory, language, and visual communication techniques. Projects will emphasize the elements of design (line, shape, tone, texture, color, scale, etc.), principles of two dimen- sional and three dimensional design, and the basic principles of composition (balance, rhythm, unity, contrast, etc.), as well as the implications and applica- tions of these proficiencies as they pertain to the de- velopment of interior environments.Â Students will apply fundamental drawing and technical drawing skills to a variety of studio projects.
