The School of Business offers degrees in accounting, business management, marketing, international business, entrepreneurship, healthcare management, hospitality management and finance designed to prepare students for a lifetime of 21st century career options. By combining a solid foundation in the major field with breadth of knowledge in the liberal arts, the programs provide the analytical, ethical, communication and problem-solving capabilities needed to support life-long learning and personal growth in a changing global and technological environment. By focusing on the acquisition of professional skills through applied learning and on-the-job experience, the programs prepare graduates for rewarding employment opportunities.
The Bachelor of Science in Accounting program is a contemporary, technology-infused curriculum designed to ensure that graduates leave with a solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and a deep-rooted appreciation for the values, attitudes and positive orientation to learning they will need to sustain and support their life-long growth and development as accounting professionals. Whether seeking to go on to graduate school with the goal of becoming a certified public accountant (CPA), or to go directly into a corporate or government setting as a management accountant, controller, forensic accountant, fraud examiner, or a financial analyst or financial planner, the opportunities for accounting-educated professionals have never been greater or more rewarding than today.
Graduates in the business management, entrepreneurship, finance, international business, healthcare management hospitality management, or marketing programs go on to be managers in varied organizational settings, both for profit and not-for-profit, from entrepreneurial start up and small business situations to Fortune 500 global enterprises. They engage in activities ranging from corporate finance to investments, from human resources to events management, from advertising and marketing to general management responsibilities in the United States and around the world.
Endicott graduates have unique advantages in gaining access to exciting career opportunities because since its founding, the College has featured field-based career learning as a cornerstone of its educational philosophy. More than 75 years of experience translate into knowing how to combine academic and real world experience. On-campus experience in state of the art classrooms includes individualized attention and support and is systematically integrated with off-campus experience, including both structured internship and exploratory networking opportunities.
Student-led clubs offer experiential learning opportunities for students to be involved in meaningful co-curricular activities. The School of Business houses several relevant student organizations providing leadership and experiential learning opportunities for students across the campus including the AH&LA club representing the American Hotel and Lodging Association DECA, Events Management Organization (EMO), the Entrepreneurship Club, Endicott Investment Club, the Endicott Marketing Club, Women in LEADership, and the Charity Craft Club. In addition, business students who qualify may be inducted into Sigma Beta Delta, an international business honor society with chapters around the globe. Hospitality students may qualify for Eta Sigma Delta (ESD), an international hospitality honor society governed by the International Council of Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Educators (ICHRIE). Both honor societies recognize junior and senior students for outstanding academic achievement, service, and professionalism.
The School of Business includes the Angle Center of Entrepreneurship whose goal is to create a culture of entrepreneurship through education, programming, networking, experiential learning, and mentoring. The Center is open to students of all disciplines who want to be exposed to the experiences of starting and running businesses. Students learn about the life-cycle of a business and about the ways in which the spirit of entrepreneurship can result in a startup with wide potential. Through the expertise of the Center’s staff and the Center’s state of the art programming, students receive guidance in a number of important areas including business model development, sales, marketing, legal issues, intellectual property, sales, finance, growth, and business exit strategies.
The result is a galvanizing link between theory and practice. Whether a student ultimately starts a business or goes to work in an established organization, he or she will have the skill set to be successful.
