An additional option for students matriculated into the Master of Education Montessori focus in Early Childhood Education is a concentration in Special Needs (Pre K-8) leading to Initial Licensure in the State of Massachusetts.
Students who enroll in the Special Needs Concentration must follow the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks to become eligible for Massachusetts Licensure endorsement.
The Special Needs Practicum requires 300 clock hours of in-class, supervised field placement. Supervision must be overseen by a Massachusetts Special Needs Licensed teacher.
A supervisor who possesses credentials for both Montessori Early Childhood and Special Needs field placements may conduct supervisions simultaneously. Otherwise, separate field placements are required.
