Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies

Endicott’s Liberal Studies major provides students with an individualized program of study in the liberal arts.  Students begin by selecting a foundation course in one of the liberal arts disciplines so that they gain an introduction to reading, thinking and writing in a specific field of study.  They then choose courses of interest from a range of liberal arts subjects, including history, political science, English, psychology, philosophy, religion, and sociology.  Students are encouraged to explore the liberal arts, and the connections between disciplines, throughout their program of study.  Academic minors are encouraged as a way for students to further develop their knowledge base.  Students may also design and apply to pursue an Individually Deigned program of study.

Students interested in becoming licensed public school teachers complete the Liberal Studies major with a concentration in early childhood or elementary education.  This program leads to licensure in the state of Massachusetts.  For more information, please see the School of Education section of the catalog.

Liberal Studies majors apply what they learn in the classroom to a wide range of internships from businesses and schools to law firms and government agencies.  The Liberal Studies major is the most versatile and individualized of Endicott’s majors and meets the professional goals of a wide range of students.
