The English curriculum is designed to provide students with a liberal arts education that develops the skills and imagination integral to the study of literature and the practice of writing. Through classes in literary analysis, poetry, fiction, and creative writing, students develop the critical thinking, writing, and communication skills essential to succeed in today’s professional world. Many English majors participate in the student-run Endicott Review and the Endicott Literary Society, which publish and promote student writing. English majors apply these skills in a wide-range of professional fields through three required internships that are completed in settings such as publishing houses, colleges and universities, newspapers, libraries, museums, law firms, and corporations. This combination of courses and internships leads to professional development and graduate degrees in the fields of English, creative writing, education, business, law, communications, journalism, among others.

Examples of internships include:

The Beverly Citizen
North Shore Music Theater
Anchorage North, Group Home for Girls
Ocean Alliance
Beverly High School
The Boston Celtics
Rockport Publishing
