Through Endicott’s Spanish Language and Culture major, students study on both the Endicott College, Beverly campus and at the College For International Studies (CIS), Endicott’s partner institution in Madrid, Spain. The program of study prepares students to be competent both living and working in Spanish-speaking countries.

The Spanish Language and Culture program allows students to spend an entire year living and studying in Spain. Students are required to spend both semesters of their junior year at the CIS campus in Madrid, Spain. The option to spend more time on the Madrid campus is available, and interested students should consult with their advisor.

Students are encouraged to complete their first two internships at Spanish-speaking work sites, or in one of Endicott’s January international programs in Spain or Mexico. The semester-long internship must be completed in a Spanish- speaking work site and/or in a Spanish-speaking country. Students may also return to CIS to complete their semester internship. There they will be placed in Spanish businesses, schools, and professional organizations, enabling them to obtain international work experience.

Students also have the option of completing a minor in Business Administration, Communications, Global Studies, or other related fields. The combination of a unique course of study, the experience of living and traveling in Spain, and completing internships in Spanish-speaking work sites will allow each student to develop an impressive array of skills which will be highly valued by future employers.

It is recommended that students have successfully completed a minimum of one year of high school level Spanish in order to apply to this program. Students will enroll in Spanish language electives appropriate to their level of proficiency.
