Bachelor of Science in Psychology

The Psychology curriculum is designed to provide students with an understanding of the theory and research within the four general domains of psychology: learning and cognition; individual differences, personality and social processes; biological bases of behavior; and developmental changes across the lifespan. Students will learn to understand and apply basic research methods in psychology, including research design, data analysis, and interpretation. They will understand and apply psychological principles to personal, social, and organizational issues. Students will learn to weigh evidence, tolerate ambiguity, act ethically, and reflect other values that are the underpinnings of psychology as a discipline. Additionally, they will recognize, understand, and respect the complexity of socio-cultural and international diversity.

Psychology majors apply this knowledge in a wide range of professional fields through three required internships that are completed in settings such as mental health clinics, hospitals, community residential programs, schools, and human resource departments. The program’s liberal arts foundation makes it ideal for students to move into any career associated with psychology, along with numerous careers outside of the field. Additionally, students will be fully prepared to continue their education in graduate schools within psychology, education, law, or social work.
