Bachelor of Fine Arts

Fine Arts majors have the common experience of intense studio practice and choose one of two concentrations; Creative Arts Therapy, or Studio Art. Students are encouraged to develop their interests and styles, participate in exhibitions and publish their work. Special presentations and exhibitions by visiting artists provide possibilities for first-hand viewing and analysis of contemporary art, and the exchange of techniques and perspectives. The curriculum fosters creative and critical thinking in combination with studio practice: drawing, painting, photography and computer graphics are required along with a sequence in art history and aesthetics.

Among the benefits of studying Fine Arts at Endicott College is the internship program, exposing students to professional, hands-on training in their chosen field. The General Education requirements guide students through the Liberal Arts, in which students study history, the humanities, literature, science, and math.

The liberal arts context for earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree offers an intellectual environment designed to develop critical thinking and communication skills that enable students to understand and engage in constructive dialogue about the complex world in which we live. Liberal Arts courses provide students the opportunity to engage in logic, intuition, scientific reasoning, and imagination to apprehend and devise solutions to community and global problems. The result is a well-informed artist.

Finally, opportunities exist to study abroad in Florence and Madrid. Studies culminate the fourth year with the two-course Senior Thesis. This is the capstone of the Endicott experience, providing graduates with a significant portfolio and research project. As a result, our alumni have technical and conceptualization skills, as well as a broad knowledge of the world and its various cultures.
