Computer Information Systems

A new program in Computer Information Systems (CIS) has been developed to address the growing demand for business managers with in depth understanding of information systems design and analysis as they apply to business settings. The CIS program is designed to provide the cross-functional skills needed to identify and effectively manage technology-based business process improvements.

The information intensive, rapidly evolving digital world requires that business enterprises continually adapt if they are to maintain their competitive position. Matching new business information technology solutions with organizational needs and then leading their integration to achieve strategic advantage is the role of the CIS professional.

Endicott’s new curriculum ensures that CIS students acquire theoretical and practical understanding of a broad range of business topics while developing cutting edge knowledge of computers and information systems through a progression of courses. In addition, CIS majors have the opportunity through the 12-credit Semester Internship and 6-credit Senior Thesis individually to focus on an area of particular personal or career interest, for example, systems management, project management or programming. By accessing the faculty and technology resources of both the School of Business and Technology and the School of Arts and Sciences, the CIS program is carefully structured to ensure graduates leave with the technical know-how and business savvy needed for success in a variety of enterprise-based technology roles, whether they be in for profit, not-for-profit, or government settings. At the same time, with a strong core of liberal arts at its base, the program has been designed to be sufficiently flexible to support the incorporation of study-abroad and minor programs of study in areas of individual interest. In this way, CIS students at Endicott are able to build their resumes, refine their skills and open doors to an even greater array of exciting opportunities in a rapidly expanding and highly remunerative field.

Examples of Internships include:
