AET 228 - Global Percussion & Therapeutic Drumming Techniques

Students will learn drumming techniques on various global percussion instruments from indigenous to modern traditions. The use of drumming in ceremonial, communal, and secular as well as music therapy and expressive arts therapy contexts will be discussed. Engagement in active music-making and reflection is a central theme and percussion instruments will be provided. Musical proficiency is not required, however, practice of techniques will be expected throughout the course.
