ITP 549 - Assistive Technology for the Classroom

A course designed to inform educators about Assistive Technologies, this course helps teachers define Assistive Technology and provide examples of assistive technology. The main focus of this course is to help identify a child’s need for assistive technology within the classroom. Faculty highlights different types of assistive technologies, helps point out venues for finding/funding appropriate assistive technologies, and aids in the building of a library of resources for the community. A major component of the class is devising an Integrated Assistive Technology project, which will be implemented in the classroom as a pre-practicum component. The activities, materials and content of this course are related to the current Massachusetts Curriculum Framework for PreK-12 Instructional Technology Standards.
